The Magnetic field for universal objects.
Almost every substantial object in the universe hosts a magnetic field. Smaller objects, like planets and stars, generate their own magnetic fields from dynamo actions inside them, where swirling flows of electrically charged plasma force weak magnetic fields to fold over themselves. To the human, the “magnetic force” could be our emotional state that felt by and influence others; it is also called, a person’s vibe.

Cosmic Association

Speaking of the relationship between human and the universe, there are three levels of cognition. The first level is human and the universe are completely separated subject; the second level believes human belongs to the universe, we are a small part of it; and the ultimate level is that I am the universe and the universe is me. This project is an exploration of the third one. Through displaying shared characteristics of human and the universe from different dimensions, I envision a new perspective to the world: look at the universe the way you look at yourself; look at yourself the way you look at the universe.


Inspiration

In high school, after I finish studied the highest level of physics in our curriculum, my professor recommend to to take advanced astronomy. It was very hard-core, but it has also deeply influenced me. From the structure of the Earth, the characteristic of each planet in our solar system, to the formation and the destination of stars, to the calculation of blackhole and the infection of dark matter…those knowledge expends my worlds as well as my imagination. Gradually, I started to notice the commonality between human and the universe. It seems to me that they are inextricably linked.

Related theoretical foundation

When I dived into research, I surprisedly found that multiple studies have endeavored to this concept: astrophysicist Franco Vazza working in Bologna, Italy, and neurosurgeon Alberto Feletti have teamed up and found countless likeliness between human brain and galaxies regarding composition, networking, inner structure, etc. Similar research also conducted by Dmitri Krioukov of the University of California and a team of researchers published in Nature.

Some researchers propose that Psychic phenomena of all kinds offer further examples of what we suppose are uniquely human expressions of our connection to the Universe. There are corresponding emergent properties of our minds in terms of wholeness and connectivity ("metaphysical" phenomena) that we do not yet understand.

Inner control
Whatever human or universe, we all have certain laws governing our overall operation and precisely predicting our further future. Physic laws such as gravitational force control all the movement and effect every aspects of the objects from the universe; same to that, our biological structure including cells, nervous system, brain, also decides our limitation and possibilities, taking control of ourselves even without notice.


Dark matter and the unconsciousness
In astronomy, dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter that appears n to to interact with light or the electromagnetic field. Dark matter is implied and calculated through galaxy rotation curves and velocity dispersions. In the standard Lambda-CDM model of cosmology, dark matter constitutes 85 percents of the total mass. This finding led me to associate it with human’s unconsciousness, which deeply hide in our mind but extensively affect our thinking and behaviors.

Multidimensionality
We can only perceive three spacial dimension, but we have always held the suspicions on how many universe it actually has. As the two dimensional object could hardly imagine the direction of the third; the higher dimensions are also out of our imagination. When I was in High school, I had also written an essay about the deduction of characteristics of the fourth dimension from observing the third dimension from the second’s perspective. Unlimited possibilities interests me a lot. On the other hand, a person can have multi dimensions as well: from the outer appearance to his personal experience, to the world view and the unconsciousness. Dimensions of a person have also countless levels.




The innate aggregation capability
In our astronomy class, I learn that stars are born in clouds of gas and dust. Turbulence from deep within these clouds creates high density regions called knots. These knots contain sufficient mass that the gas and dust can begin to collapse from gravitational attraction. As it collapses, pressure from gravity causes the material at the center to heat up, creating a protostar. One day, this core becomes hot enough to ignite fusion and a star is born. How a star forms requires the aggregation of countless particles reminds me of how our society is established. As social animal, we naturally draw companions together, forming groups in different extent. Only through cohesion can we survive and develop society.

Orbital quality of planets and human life
An orbit is a regular, repeating path that one object in space takes around another one. Orbiting objects in the universe includes planets, moon, asteroids, and manmade devices. Similarly, we also have our life track, which may have already been setup when we were born. It is hard to escape from our destination or intend to end the cycle. Indeed, throughout our life, all of our intention orbit around what we truly care about.




Interchangeable perspective
Besides those I have described, there are lots of other qualities that are shared by the universe and human. In conclusion, I believe in the existence of mutual perception between the two. Therefore, we can always see ourself the way we see the universe and see the universe the way we see ourself.
