Tornado (Above)

The first picture shows the initial state. When we hustle in urban environment, we can’t help ourselves influence by other people’s view, social standard, or capitalist propaganda. Others’ voices and social pressure like a tornado overwhelm us. We drown in society, cannot rest, cannot breath.

Journey
  1. Sitting in our childhood swing, do we still remember our original dream? (On the right, row 1 column 1)
  2. Riding on a horse going round and round, we are all running in an infinite loop of time, nonstop. (On the right, row 1 column 2)
  3. When we pause briefly from our busy lives, is our heart still crystal clear? (On the right, row 2 column 1)
  4. When we sail day by day with our cultivated tenacity and courage, do we still sure about our destination? (On the right, row 2 column 2)
  5. No matter how strong the waves are, they cannot trample upon us if our heart is filled with calm assurance and abiding peace. (On the right, row 3 column 1)

Ending (On the right, row 3 column 2)

In the final piece, when we have been through the whole journey, when we finally clear away the tornado clouds, we come to the realization that the source of strength, to fight back the world, comes from ourselves. As long as we are certain about what we believe, as long as our inner core are well-protected, we can be more powerful than we ever imagined.

The moon image runs through the whole series. It symbolizes our original belief; it may be shortly concealed, but it is always there.

Here Peace and Tranquility Reigned

(2022--2023)

Overview

This series of artwork is an inspection of feelings in modern world, where we are constantly overwhelmed by outer voices and labels. We hardly listen to our inner voice and contemplate what we actually want. Recovering from serious eating disorder and self-harm behavior, I have made a great breakthrough on self-awareness and self-cognition. No longer influenced by social anxiety created by fierce competition, whatever body-shape or personal achievement, I decided to slow down my pace and regain my inner peace.
